Full of despair and unhappiness, but it was a worthwhile read. A very slow start, almost put it down. Unfortunately I don’t care for stream of consciousness writing or foreshadowing.

Lists with This Book. Lot of different ideas to take in at once, layers to the story that intrigue and repulse and cause the reader to evaluate their own judgements. I also liked the history in the story. In the end, I gave this book 2 stars and not 1 because the epilogue was actually very siks and an easier read than the rest of the book.

I gave it four stars rather than five because I became bogged down in the Bosnian war scenes and a side story of filming a movie with a group of theater people that seemed off topic. This book is not yet featured on Listopia. It gave me a deeper understanding of how people could live and survive in that environment with war raging all around them. All in all, it’s a decent read, especially if you have any knowledge or experience of the war in Bosnia. The main sotlica and twist in the book no worries, no spoilersrelies on foreshadowing; it was something I predicted was happening just a little over halfway there.
